"The Magic Flute" is considered one of the greatest operas ever written. It is a wonderful fairytale filled with dragons, bird catchers, trials and tribulations. But like everything else Mozart composed, this "simple" surface hides a deeper meaning. Surrounding the creation of "Die Zauberflöte" are a series of unanswered questions, myths, rumors and even conspiracy theories, directed not only at the opera itself, but also at Mozart's own life at the time. Then of course, there is also the question of his untimely death just months after the opera's première. Was Mozart actually murdered for divulging secrets....in his opera?! On this week's snapshot, we get to visit the little house where he composed much of the great opera and discuss the many theories and rumors surrounding this "magical" work.
