Something a little special for you - we decided to paint a rat rod! More specifically, we decided to paint my actual real-life car in the scuffed, scraped matted and beaten rat rod style. Because reasons. In the best Time Team tradition (almost) we had just four days to do it.
Painting was done using a DeVilbiss GTI Pro LIte spray gun and DeBeer paints in Ipanema Brown (solvent-based, paint code is LY8Y) and Gulf Blue (water based, paint code is L390), and bog-standard Red, White and Black also in water-based paint. I then took over with the weathering (you knew I would have to do some weathering) using Humbrol Maskol to create rust chipping and Scotch-Brite to remove the water-based paints whilst leaving the Ipanema Brown intact as rust, to create rusty scuffs, streaks and leaching. The car was finished off with an automotive matte lacquer.
