Day 62–64 of our overland journey from the UK to Australia.
We spent New Year’s Eve in Cappadocia, fully expecting a quiet night… and instead experienced one of the most surreal nights of our lives.
From snowy cave views and an unreal Turkish meal, to fire being blasted into the air with music, fireworks over the valleys, and sharing the moment with our hotel family, Cappadocia completely blew us away.
Then, just when we thought our luck had run out…
we woke up to minus 16°C and the hot air balloons were flying.
A proper pinch-me moment.
After soaking up our final snowy day in Cappadocia, we begin one of our longest travel days yet a 10.5-hour bus ride across eastern Turkey to Erzurum… where it hits minus 20°C 🥶
This journey is taking us places we never imagined.
📍 Route: Cappadocia → Erzurum → Georgia → Armenia → Azerbaijan
