Returning from Coffs Harbour, we detoured via Red Rock...; where my father bought a Holiday House in 1948, and where I spent my holidays until it was sold in 1985.
Where the Car was parked was almost precisely on the spot where I used to moor my father's Rowboat, and later my Sailing Dinghy...
As an only-child, Red Rock was a truly "magical" place to grow up "Free Range".
I hadn't been there for 25 or 30 years...; and the
changes wrought by relentlessly gtowing Population Pressure have left it barely recognisable.
So I was gripped by Solicetalgia (?), the sadness caused by regarding what is not..., that which has been changed and overlaid...; but, compared to Corindi Beach, Woolgoolga, Coffs Harbour, or Arrawarra - Red Rock is the
"Pick of the Litter"
For being the LEAST changed
By the passage of
Time..., & the ever
Pressing Throb of the
Madding Crowd.
But the Seagulls sure appeared to
Recognise a
Friend of their Family...(!).
Such is life,
