The boom of a crane being transported by barge struck the Bridge in Savannah, Ga. and collapsed today. No injuries were reported, but traffic both vehicluar and water, were shut down while an inspection of the damage took place. Vehicles had resumed using the bridge to cross the Savannah River by early evening.
A call to the USCG Tybee Station could not confirm that water bound traffic had resumed under the bridge.
