Ever wondered what it feels like to drive through misty ghats, eat pineapple by the roadside, and walk barefoot into a temple that feeds thousands every day?
This vlog takes you from the early morning streets of Bangalore to the sacred and serene town of Dharamsthala — via the lush, winding roads of Charmadi Ghat, one of the most scenic (and underrated) drives in Karnataka.
In this video:
🚗 Road trip from Bangalore via NH75
🍽️ Breakfast at Paakshala
🥥 Refreshing stop for coconut water + local pineapple
🌄 Driving through Sakleshpur & Charmadi Ghat (fog, curves, forests!)
🍛 South Indian thali near the temple
🏡 Our stay at a resort walking distance from the temple
🛕 Evening darshan at Shri Manjunatha Swamy Temple
📍 About the Temple:
The Shri Manjunatha Temple in Dharamsthala is over 800 years old. Here, Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of Manjunatha, but what makes it unique is that the temple is run by a Jain family under the Heggade lineage. It’s a rare example of religious harmony, where daily rituals follow Hindu traditions, while the values of Anna Dana (free meals) and seva (service) form the temple’s core.
🍛 Over 10,000 people are served meals here daily, all free of cost — no matter your background.
🌀 Charmadi Ghat deserves its own mention. Narrow roads, sharp curves, endless greenery, and sudden fog — this section between Sakleshpur and Ujire is breathtaking (and fun to drive, if you're careful!).
If you love road trips that end with spiritual calm and a full meal, this one’s for you.
