How to Keep HERBS & VEGETABLES Fresh! Save Money!

In today's video, I am sharing some kitchen tips to make herbs, peppers, other seasonings and produce last longer. These are just things that I do, and I hope it works for you too! This will lengthen the life of your groceries and help you save money!

Bandhania, Culantro, Recao, Ngo Gai, Sawtooth Coriander-- Wrap in damp paper towels and place into a resealable bag. If the stems are still connected, place in a jar of water and cover with a plastic bag. Blend or chop and freeze in ice trays or freezer bags. You can also add butter or oil to it. Dehydrate in the oven, dehydrator, or naturally by air drying.
Cilantro, Coriander ,Chinese Parsley-- Store in a jar of water, and cover with a plastic bag. Alternatively, you can also blend or chop and place in ice trays or freezer bags. Dehydrate in the oven, dehydrator, or naturally by air drying.
Scallion, Green Onion, Chive-- Store in a jar of water close to a window, or outside where it can get sun. Store in the fridge by covering the jar with a plastic bag. Blend or chop and freeze. Dehydrate in the oven, dehydrator, or naturally by air drying.
Curry Leaves, Bay Leaves, Thyme-- Wrap in damp paper towels and place into the crisper drawers. Dry completely and place into freezer bags to freeze them for up to 6 months.
Lemongrass, Fevergrass-- Chop into smaller pieces and wrap in damp paper towels and into a resealable bag. These can be frozen also.
Hot Peppers, Pimento Peppers, Chili Peppers-- Freeze in resealable bags or dry completely, place into a bag and into the crisper drawer in the fridge.
Turmeric and Ginger-- Freeze or place the dry rhizomes into resealable bags and into the fridge.
Store Celery, Carrots, Broccoli and Lettuce in foil. Carrots and celery can also be chopped and submerged in water.
Store Onion, Garlic & Ground Provisions in a dark cupboard or in the fridge. Ground provisions can also be peeled, vacuum sealed and placed in the freezer.
Store Tomatoes, Eggplant (Baigan), Cucumbers and other fruits and vegetables in brown paper bags or wrapped in DRY paper towels.
Blanch or steam Spinach and Dasheen Bush Bhagi before freezing.
TIP: Keep the fruits away from the veggies in the fridge. Fruits release ethylene gas that encourage ripening, and will ripen the vegetables faster if they are close together.
