Khadijah LIVE performing Khaleejy!

"Get to know the culture before you get to know the dance": Khaleejy is more than just what the West thinks it is. This class is especially formulated in celebration and awareness of African/Black history month). Khadijah will especially discuss the African foundations in Khaleejy dances that have gone unrecognized or erased from Khaleejy culture and common knowledge. This all includes mannerisms/cultural etiquette, khaleej dance etiquette, religious aspects, historical information, proper attire , musicality/musical instrumentation and various styles of dress. You'll get to know other regions of the gulf, everyday khaleej life - especially of the African experience. Please bring a notebook, a pen and a snack if you like!

About your instructor:

Khadijah is of Kenyan heritage originally born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia  and currently resides in Denver, CO. She is a diverse international performer/instructor and Educator of Afro-Arabic dances of North Africa, Gulf Folklore and Central Asian dances. She has become a highly sought after performer, instructor and choreographer due to her unique energetic style.  She is continuously traveling, studying and seeking knowledge on a regular basis with the world's most renowned dancers and musicians of North African , Gulf and Central Asian dances, music and beyond.
