SuperTree are 18-towering structures in the Gardens, ranging from 25 to 50 metres tall. Designed by Grant Associates with Atelier One and Atelier Ten, these vertical gardens serve multiple purposes, including planting, shading, and environmental functions.
Home to unique ferns, vines, orchids, and bromeliads, the SuperTree's are equipped with technologies that mimic tree functions. They use photovoltaic cells for solar energy and collect rainwater for irrigation, resembling how trees grow. Additionally, they assist with the air intake and exhaust for the conservatories' cooling systems.
The OCBC Skyway connects two SuperTrees, providing visitors with panoramic views of the Gardens. Every night at 7:45 pm and 8:45 pm, the SuperTree Grove hosts the Garden Rhapsody, a light and music show with themes that change monthly, featuring music from films like The Little Mermaid and Pinocchio.
The SuperTree Observatory, opened on December 27, 2019, is the tallest SuperTree at 50 meters. It has three levels: the ground floor, the Observatory Space, and the Open-Air Rooftop Deck. Visitors take an elevator to the Observatory Space, which has glass windows and outdoor walkways. The rooftop deck offers 360-degree views of the Gardens and Marina Bay.
Italy's Pavilion at Expo 2015 featured a structure called Albero Della Vita, visually similar to Singapore's SuperTree's.
