(Pre-2024) Lower Pigeon Guide, Standard Release 1500 cfs - Ira's River Guide Series

The Lower Pigeon River is the section just below the popular Pigeon Gorge. This stretch of river consists of class II-III rapids & is very beginner friendly. It offers plenty of warm up before the final & most challenging rapid at the end, Maytag. This is a good river for anyone learning the basics of whitewater kayaking with an abundance of places to practice the necessary skills needed to step up. If you want to really extend your time on the river consider running the Pigeon Gorge on through the lower section.
