Hey buddy boy, as we lay in your hospital bed with you, we are having trouble coming up with the words to describe how wonderful you were in the three and a half months we got to spend with you. It seems that there are no words to adequately describe our short time together, but angel baby has always come to mind. You were such a good boy. We thought your sister was easy until we took you home and realized how easy a baby could be.

Your smile was so infectious, especially when daddy would hold you up above his head and you’d look down at him with the biggest smile you could possibly have or when your mommy would hold you and talk to you an inch from your face as you smiled at her like she was the light of your life. But you always smiled the biggest when Stoney would wake up in the mornings, walk into the living room, yell, “Parker!” give you a kiss, and then immediately insist on feeding you all by herself. Drinking a bottle is difficult when you can’t stop smiling. You would stare at your sister with pure joy and love.

Your mommy, daddy, and sister are going to miss you everyday until it’s our turn to meet Jesus and we pray he brings you with him to the pearly gates when it’s our turn.

We are so proud of you for being brave through all of this. We know you’re going to make a lot of other mommies and daddies proud of you too. When they get told that your organs are on the way to save their babies, it comforts us to know as we cry over you in your hospital room they are also crying in theirs, but their tears are of joy and and they are rejoicing over their sick baby that you saved. I pray that some of your strength and courage is passed on to them. God knows you have plenty to share.

We can’t know all the reasons why God decided to take you so soon but at least we know one reason, like your cousin Goldie said at your bedside after she said goodbye, “Parker was born to save lives.” You have always been such a light in our lives, and you will continue to light up the world forever.

Thank you so very much from the bottom of our hearts for the Mount Ayr and Blank Children’s Hospital EMT and Nursing Staff and all the Doctors that cared for our baby boy. We can’t put into words what all of you mean to us. Thank you to all our friends and family who have supported us through this difficult time. God bless all of you!
