Around the end of June 1945, the U.S. Navy filmed a captured Nakajima Hayabusa, code named Oscar, flying with a Mitsubishi A6M, code named Zeke, near the Navy's Patuxent River, Maryland, test and evaluation area.
Looks like the camera plane is a Lockheed twin, possibly a Ventura or Lodestar. Wartime evaluation of these Japanese fighters gave American pilots the confidence to engage the enemy on terms favorable to the American fighters, typically involving high speed dives and avoiding prolonged maneuvering where the light Japanese fighters had an advantage.
