In this video I capture a rare historical SVT 137 225 a/b (Bauart Hamburg) express train, filmed at Leipzig station. This iconic machine was built in 1935–1936 for the then Deutsche Reichsbahn during the Nazi Germany (Third Reich).
The SVT 137 was one of the most advanced trains of its time - it reached speeds of up to 160 km/h, making it one of the fastest express trains in the world in the 1930s.
Today, this unique piece is a valuable technical monument and a reminder of the rapid development of railway technology in a dark historical period.
