Good Morning Good Morning was recorded between February and March of 1967. They started with a basic track of drums and rhythm guitar, then added the bass and lead vocals in another take. After that came the brass section, backing vocals, the guitar solo, and finally the animal sounds.
Lennon got the idea for the lyrics from a TV commercial, which he later called throwaway stuff, garbage. “I always had the TV on low while I was writing, and this came from a Kellogg’s Corn Flakes commercial”.
What’s interesting about this song is that at times it sounds like there’s a double bass drum. Even though there are some photos of the band with a drum kit that has two kick drums, the effect was actually done by McCartney playing a floor tom at the same time as Ringo playing.
I hope you enjoy this collaboration with @aclamguitars. The Mocker is a pedal based on the fuzz circuit of the Vox UL730 that The Beatles used during those years. For this cover, I used it for McCartney’s solo (1:21) since this pedal creates that overdriven, compressed sound that McCartney often used in his solos on the album.
I recommend checking out Sam Popkin's cover for a better look at the details in the rhythm and lead guitar
