On this trip, we’re driving in Yangshuo — home to some of China’s most iconic landscapes.
This region has the greatest density of karst peaks, the most dramatic mountain shapes, and the softest, most elegant valley scenery. Both the Li River and Yulong River are considered textbook examples of China’s karst landscape.
We begin our drive in Putao Town, a beautiful rural area in northern Yangshuo, surrounded by dense peak forests and perfect for scenic driving.
After entering the expressway from Putao, the peaks grow closer and taller, most rising about 200 meters straight from the valley floor. The landscape shifts constantly as we drive—every turn brings a fresh view.
Exiting the highway at Gaotian, we enter the famous Ten-Mile Gallery, the most concentrated stretch of Yangshuo’s scenery. Here, mountains, fields, bamboo groves, streams, stone bridges, and village houses blend into a peaceful, natural picture.
Before sunset, we continue onto Yangshuo’s ring road. The evening light paints the county town and the Li River in warm colors, while the karst peaks stand sharply outlined against the sky—one of the most unforgettable moments in Yangshuo.
This route moves from speed to calm, from wide-open views to delicate details, and from daylight into golden sunset.
