Sri. Babu Bhagavathar is the son of Late Sri. N. N. Ranganathan, a great Bhajanist for many decades in Mumbai. Sri. Babu is very much a chip of the old block, having been initiated into Sampradaya Bhajans, Dhyana Bhajans & Tiruppugazh by his father, who was the contemporary of the Late Thiruppugazh Papa (Sri. Subramanian). Sri. Babu's special forte has been the singing of Viruthams which are immersed in bhakti. He has been the recipient of various titles such as Bhakti Gana Praveen Ratnam by Sri. Sakti Vadivelu Swamigal, Chennai, Sankirthana Kala Visharath by Dombivli Fine Arts, Nama Vilaasa Prakirti by Dubai Asthika Samaj to name a few.
