At Friday night's Kabbalat Shabbat service, Rabbi Geffen gave us four directives for this year's Chanukah celebrations:
1. Put your chanukiyah in the window, facing the street, for all to see.
2. In matters of Chanukah, we increase! We begin with one and count up to eight because holiness is cumulative.
3. Add something dairy-based to your Chanukah celebration and channel the Jewish hero, Judith.
4. Find a commitment to hope despite the odds of the situation in the world around us.
