55th FS Commander’s F-16 & Afternoon Rush | San Juan Airport

The afternoon heats up at San Juan with the roar of military power as two F-16C Vipers of the 55th Fighter Squadron depart for their Operation Noble Eagle Combat Air Patrol (CAP) missions. As part of the Presidential security detail while the U.S. President visited St. Croix, these sorties ensured round-the-clock coverage over the region. Of special note is the 55th FS Commander’s aircraft, carrying its distinctive squadron checkerboard tail design.

Meanwhile, the video also captures the return of two F-16s from their morning sorties, closing their CAP window as the afternoon jets take over. Adding variety to the military highlight, a US Air Force C-37A Gulfstream makes a stop at SJU, and the footage transitions into the early stages of the afternoon traffic rush with commercial airliners joining the mix.
