The conventional thinking for driving productivity from a client's asset base assumes that the current operation of the value chain is fixed. This paradigm usually pushes you toward spending significant capital to upgrade the rates or capacities of your existing system elements.
To successfully drive more productivity, you need to clearly understand what needs to be done and how to do it. Driving productivity within a program is centred around three elements: People (starting with mindset), construction thinking in design (bringing constructors and suppliers in early), and good planning (embedding all interface milestones in the schedule to prevent delays on the critical path).
