They told us slavery ended in 1865.
But it didn’t end.
It just changed its clothes.

The 13th Amendment said,
“No slavery — except for crime.”
That loophole became the new whip.
Chain gangs. Convict leasing.
Prisons filled with Black men,
working fields for pennies,
watched by guards instead of overseers.

They call it justice.
We live it as slavery by another name.
