The hill was in regular use from 1910 by motorcycles and motorcars until 1925 when, as a result of an accident on the hill, all racing on public roads in Britain was banned.
In 2008 the Kop Hill Climb was restarted to raise money for local charities and attracts some amazing cars and bikes every September
