The firewall on our 1969 Pontiac Firebird was hiding decades of rust, random holes, and poorly done repairs. Before reassembling the engine bay, we decided to tear everything down and restore it properly from bare metal up.
In this video, we sand the firewall completely, repair rust damage, weld in patch panels and a heater core delete cover, clean up unnecessary holes, and refinish the firewall in Steel-It for a clean, durable finish. This process took five full days and completely transformed one of the most neglected areas of the car.
This build is about patience, craftsmanship, and doing things the right way — even when it would be easier to cut corners.
