I have just finished this art exhibition for the Chamber Gallery in Rangiora, New Zealand. Handmade Books and Paper from Harakeke flax and cotton rag, with earth pigments and shells from the beach. The big Papers are for natural burials, I received a grant from the Te Atawhai Aroha Compassionate Communities Trust to explore the concept of wrapping papers that break down in the earth. The papers are sealed with beeswax and pine turpentine...
The images are variations on the eight spoked wheel, ancient graffiti that was chiseled into the Roman roads, amazingly echoed in the lovely stained glass ceiling of the Gallery.
