Can things like Mahasamadhi or to stop the heart be learned ?

The rather magical yogic powers such as stopping the heartbeat or Mahasamadhi are not really taught by the teacher to the student. The learning happens through experience in deep meditation and then maybe afterwards the teacher can be helpful in confirming what one has learned, pointing in some new direction or giving some warning about the particular practice. Mahasamadhi means that one consciously leaves the body through the 7th chakra, not to return. This is actually learned in Samadhi quite naturally, but then always we return to the body. Sometimes however this technique is used when the body gets too old, as I witnessed with Baba Santosh Puri from the Santoshpuri Ashram in Hardwar.
