2025 Boston Chinese New Year - Lion Dance Parade 🐍🧨✨ CNY Stage Chinatown USA Celebration Event

2025 is the year of the snake - and it was a snowy morning but weather conditions got better and improved during the day. Many attended the wonderful celebration with lion dancers & lion dance drumming along with loud red firecrackers in the streets. Plus a unique appearance of a dancing snake and the hakka lion dance, which is very rare in the USA - found mostly in Malaysia and Taiwan Asian countries.

Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year is a very special and significant occasion. It is one of the most biggest and major holidays in Asian & Chinese culture. Event on February 9, 2025.

🧧 Chinese New Year 2026 falls on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 - where many celebrations happen around that date in many places & cities around the world.

Lion dancing by Boston Chinese Freemasons & Wah Lum Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy, Gund Kwok Asian Women Female Lion Dance & Dragon Troupe, Woo Ching White Crane Kung Fu School, On Leung Chinese Merchants Association, Kwong Kow Chinese School, Wah Lum Boston Kung Fu, Wong Keung lion dance 舞獅 and dragon 龙 troupe, Wong Family Association, and Wah May Nam Pai Kung Fu Academy. Many young generation were also part of the Boston lion dance parade and doing the traditional drumming as well.

Generally the lion dance exists in many countries such as China & Malaysia and Vietnam as well as Hong Kong & Singapore - which are great traveling destinations in Asia that people can visit to see this beautiful art. Boston Chinatown and other Chinatowns in the United States along with other western nations such as London UK and Australia - also help to keep the art and culture alive. The lion dance can sometimes be confused, as the dragon dance where there are 2 people in a lion costume - made up of head and tail while the dragon can have many performers working together in a larger coordinated style. Sometimes there is a also a buddha performing with the lions.
