This song grew on me big time. I didn't care for it much as a kid, but I thoroughly enjoy it now. It also has a very strange keyboard chart. Just listening to this song casually, most people would probably not think about keyboard at any point during the track's duration, but it includes quite a bit of random noodling. Parts like 0:36 and 3:09 are barely audible unless you intentionally focus on them. The glissando at 2:31 also shows a minor visual oversight on pro keys that I'm not sure I've mentioned yet. Since overdrive phrases don't show properly on glissando notes, it looks like the phrase ends about two beats earlier than it actually does. In this case, I end up burning the phrase anyway since there's nothing after for like 35 seconds. Does this matter? Not here, no -- although I'm sure it'd be important to keep in mind for pathing other songs, should anybody ever care about doing so (unlikely). Either way. it's still interesting.
There's also a 97-second break of dead air from 0:40 to 2:17, which might be the longest stretch of nothing in the middle of a chart on pro keys on the disc, but unfortunately, many songs in the larger DLC/RBN library include breaks that extend way beyond this one. I guess if HMX had bothered to chart the keys on "Beast and the Harlot," that'd carry the on-disc record, but they didn't do that. Since there's another long break later in the chart (and because most of the chart is single notes), "Portions for Foxes" becomes a very back-loaded chart score-wise. It takes almost four minutes for me to reach 100,000, but then I get another 72,000 in the final minute. The outro is pretty missable and this is not a chart you want to have to sit through more than necessary, so practicing it would probably be smart.
