Older agricultural workers face a higher risk of dementia—making it harder to safely age in place on the farm. Yet, most safety programs don’t address the unique challenges of dementia in rural, agricultural settings. Dementia is also more prevalent among women with women being the most common caregivers for those living with the condition. Kanika Arora (University of Iowa) and her colleague Julie Bobitt (University of Illinois, Chicago) are launching Farm Families Coping with Dementia (FFCD)—a free, 4-week online program designed for family members and caregivers of farmers showing signs of dementia. This video is an information session on this program.
