Jazz Talks with jazz musician and scholar Loren Schoenberg of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem returns to CSMA and explores the subject of Johann Sebastian Bach as the first jazz musician. Jazz musicians have been attracted to the music of Bach since its early days. In fact, many musicians think that if Bach were to come back today, he’d have a lot more in common with the jazz musicians. We will listen to some of his music, and its many reflections in the great world of jazz from Coleman Hawkins to the Swingle Singers.
