This was the ex-Works Sepp Haider Opel which was brought out for the '89 Safari. Azar did a lot of development work on the car, particularly to improve the suspensions.
Unfortunately, the weather was not very kind in 1990 and we struggled in the mud with water logged roads and were eventually OTL in reaching the finish of Day 2.
Azar and I subsequently had two fabulous seasons in 1990 and 1991 with this car twice finishing second in Mombasa, another second in Nairobi, a fifth in
Eldoret, a second in Nakuru amongst many other podium finishes.
