Chris Hedges: Revolutions Only Happen Through Movements

In this clip from the Waking Up With Julianna Forlano show, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and best-selling author, Chris Hedges, discusses the whole 2020 Election experience... Trump, Biden, Bernie, and how we are going to have to bring down the "decayed and broken system" that exists in America, but how "we can't do that through the Democratic Party". In this, Chris brings up how Bernie said in 2016 that the Democratic Party would never give him the nomination, so he had to build a viable alternative movement; an example which is justified here in a Hedges history lesson on how revolutions only happen through movements... and that movements like Bernie's and Extinction Rebellion, are the only way to shut the system down.
You may know Chris from reading one of his best-selling books including American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War On America, Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle, War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning, Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt, Death of the Liberal Class. Or his weekly interview show On Contact where he interviews “dissident voices” currently missing from the mainstream media, the black sheep of the establishment, leading to discussions that are not easy to find.
Chris is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, a New York Times best-selling author, a professor in the college degree program offered to New Jersey state prisoners by Rutgers University, and an ordained Presbyterian minister. He has written 12 books, including the New York Times best-seller “Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt” which he co-authored with the cartoonist Joe Sacco. His latest book is "America: The Farewell Tour" (2018).
