'Lift Ban Or...': Hasina’s Son Warns Bangladesh Will Remain Unstable Without Free, Fair Election

Sajeeb Wazed, son of ousted Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, has urged the interim government under Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus to lift the ban on Awami League. Speaking from Washington, Wazed warned that excluding Hasina’s party would make upcoming elections in Bangladesh a sham, leaving the country politically unstable. He criticized the Yunus-led government for jailing party members, failing to allow election preparations, and enabling Islamist forces. With Bangladesh’s February 2026 elections approaching, Wazed called for a free, fair, and inclusive process to prevent chaos.
