Should you get the Bilt 2.0 credit cards?
Short answer: No.

In this video, I break down why I’m NOT endorsing the Bilt 2.0 cards, and why, for most people trying to earn free travel fast, they miss the point entirely.

At Hawaii Reward Travel, our core strategy has always been simple:

👉 Earn points fast through credit card sign-up bonuses
👉 Use everyday spending only after bonuses are exhausted

Bilt flips that strategy on its head.

Instead of earning 10–20x points per dollar through welcome bonuses (the fastest way to build massive point balances), Bilt pushes you toward 1x–3.3x everyday spending, including rent and mortgage, often at the cost of giving up sign-up bonuses entirely.

That tradeoff doesn’t work if your goal is:

Flying to Japan this year
Booking business class, not economy
Traveling now, not “someday”

This video was recorded before Bilt’s most recent changes to their Option 1 and Option 2 earning tiers (including the updated Bilt Cash mechanics).

Yes, those changes made things slightly simpler and marginally better.

But even with the updates, Bilt still goes against our core principle:

If you want to earn free travel fast, everyday spending cards come second—not first.

The math still doesn’t beat sign-up bonuses.

My Bottom Line

The goal isn’t to earn points slowly.
The goal is to build a huge travel rewards piggy bank—fast.

Bilt won’t get you there.
