UN chief says sanctions should not impede Syria aid efforts

CCTV reporter Xu Dezhi asked UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres if sanctions against Syria should be lifted to allow more aid to be mobilized for earthquake victims.

The Syrian government is currently sanctioned by the EU, U.S. and other Western powers for cracking down on the opposition during its ongoing civil war.
