Archival footage shot by an amateur filmmaker in Indianapolis, on the 30th of May 1941.
It contains stock footage of the car race: a fire that swept through the garage area, an orchestra parade before the race, pilot Tom Joyce broken car sponsored by 7up, outgoing winner Wilbur Shaw going out of the garage with his Boyle Special, the race from a spot in front of the pagoda, cars stopping for refuelling, and more.
The Gasoline Alley fire caused the Maserati crew to put a suspect wire wheel on the #2. Until the wheel broke, Shaw was on his way to a hat trick. The very same car went on to several more top five finishes at Indy after the war with Ted Horn in the cockpit.
