Greetings,
Through this instrumental song, we aim to let you know a little about Khalifa Rehmat Jan Malang. Khalifa Rehmat Jan Malang (1885 to 1971) from Sherqilla, GB, was a renowned poet and a religious scholar. He is known almost all over the GB region for his immeasurable love for his beloved Yurmas. His true love story became a beautiful addition to the indigenous folk story heritage.
Moreover, he had a strong command of the Persian language; hence, he could write several masterpieces of poetry in Persian.
Besides, this instrumental is one of Malang's famous songs in the Shina language, which he composed himself. This composition is one of the unique compositions in the musical history of GB. Though we are not very qualified musicians or researchers, our brief study of this composition indicates that this song is based on an Indian Raag (Bhimpalasi). The Aroha and avroha of the raag are similar, and challan also resembles. Presumably, we can say that MALANG could have some knowledge of Indian Raags. In this same composition, he may consciously/non-consciously employed the notes of this Raag. We could be wrong, but this is, again, just a brief and immature study. (We will highly appreciate a robust analysis of this composition)
One of the beautiful stanzas is:
Dunaat er khoun thay thonis, thay tyaar thay phat thay bonis
Beh ga nay Mareh thay ronis, sharminda bay tukech ounis
Theme:
We can't free ourselves from the prison of this mundane world, its affairs, and we continue to stay here in this unsophisticated world of greed, and we go out every day to consume the materials that temporarily make us happy. We don't want to leave this world and pray to you (God) for extending our stay in this world. However, despite our several struggles to stay in this world, we happen to confront you with our embarrassed faces and left everything behind.
