Under the revised plan, car manufacturers can continue to sell vehicles using internal combustion engines after 2035.
Instead of a complete ban on gasoline-powered vehicles, the automotive industry only needs to ensure a 90% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to 2021 levels. From 2030 to 2032, manufacturers need to reduce passenger car emissions by 55% compared to 2021 levels. Meanwhile, the target for commercial vehicles in 2030 has been lowered from 50% to 40%.
