In November, many towns celebrate Räbechilbi, literally “turnip party.” In short, people carve designs into turnips, light them up like a lantern and have a parade. The turnip lanterns represent the warmth of home during the cold winter months.
The Räbeliechtli Richterswil or “Räbeliechtli-Umzug” as is often referred to, really is quite a striking event. It is known for being the biggest “lit turnip procession in Europe”, and is truly spectacular with all the little turnips twinkling like hundreds of tiny stars.
Around 30 Tons of Turnips and 50,000 lighted candles used for Parade.The house in the village are decorated and enlighted of Turnips with candle every balcon,doors and windows.
