Deflazacort डेफ्लाजाकोर्ट
Deflazacort is class of medication called Steroid
Newer steroid with anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory agent.
It is used mainly for inflammatory and immunological disorders.

Deflazacort Mechanism of action
Deflazacort is a corticosteroid prodrug, whose active metabolite, 21-desDFZ, acts through the glucocorticoid receptor to exert anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects.

Deflazacort dose
60–120 mg/day initially,
6–18 mg/day for maintenance;
children 0.25–1.5 mg/kg daily or on alternate days.

Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of throat & nasal passages)
Increased appetite
Weight gain
Frequent urge to urinate
Cushing syndrome
Cough
Abnormal hair growth
Obesity

Deflazacort contraindications
Unsafe to use during pregnancy.
It should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease.
Hypersensitivity to steroids
Active, untreated tuberculosis or inactive tuberculosis.
Herpes simplex infection of the eye.
An infection due to a fungus.
A condition with low thyroid hormone levels.
