Spring storms bring migrating ants down the valleys, and they stick around for months! The effect is almost like snow falling with the drift down to the water en mass, and the trout go crazy for them!
This simple fly pattern ticks all the boxes during these ant falls. Floating dubbing, floating CDC, and floating hackle. It floats, and sits high on the water's surface, so it flutters about like the naturals. The trout might even eat it, amongst the thousands of other snacks they have to choose from!
A fun fly to tie, and even better to fish!
