Microsoft Project - Lesson 6: Updating Progress as the Project Unfolds, and Re-Planning as Needed

This is Lesson 6 of my Microsoft Project hands-on training course. In this lesson I show you how to update tasks in your schedule to reflect reported status from those performing, or managing, work within the project. Progress may be on target, or it could be that tasks are progressing faster or slower than expected. Tasks may have started or finished as scheduled, or they may have started and/or finished earlier or later than planned. In-progress tasks may be running late or early, or they may be progressing exactly as planned.

In cases where there ARE variances against plan, we need to know what these are, and where necessary and appropriate we need to update future estimates based on progress, and on the ground experience, gained so far.

In addition to seeing how to update progress, we will look at comparing progress to baseline, and look at some of the progress-related reports available to us within Microsoft Project.
