Recreating antique lace is an often overlooked side of historical fashion.

(I also want to mention to those of you who watch to the end, when you see my kids playing with one of the sewing machines, don't be alarmed! I always take the needle out of any machines that are going to be left on my work bench, as well as unplugging electric ones. Yes, it adds a couple seconds to each time I sit down to work, but the peace of mind is priceless. No machine sewn fingers! Also, yes, I do let them play with my lace pins. gasp They learn which side is the pointy side very quickly, and how handle it accordingly. I believe it is important not to pad their world too much, and to let them learn how to work with real objects. A bowl of pins, yes. A loaded sewing machine, no. That's my safety line for my kids at this age.)
