The most powerful form of Thor between all universes and realms is Rune King Thor, and he made the ultimate sacrifice to achieve this form. The entire story revolves around Thor trying to save his home, Asgard, from Ragnarok, who is being led by his brother Loki. In Thor #83, Thor understands that to achieve Odinpower and become a greater God, he must make some sacrifices. This leads to him plucking both his eyes out and dropping them in the Well of Mimir, and then he is informed that his quest will only be completed after he dies and is reborn, which eventually leads to the birth of Rune King Thor, the strongest entity ever to live. The six-issue comic series that covers this saga soon went on to become an important part of his legacy, even though his time as Rune King Thor was short.
