I dropped a random piece of scrap metal I found into some concentrated hydrochloric acid (a very strong and dangerous acid). I initially wanted to determine the types of metals that it was made of and maybe deduce the type of metal alloy it was, but I got a bit carried away and ended up running some other cool chemistry experiments with them instead.
I mainly concluded that the metal was probably some alloy of aluminum, nickel, and iron. It may have contained other elements like copper and zinc, but I wasn't able to confirm the presence of either in the piece of scrap metal.
