US President-elect Donald Trump met with TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew Dec 16 at his Mar-a-Lago resort, according to multiple reports. The meeting came as the popular social media platform faces a ban in the US. Earlier this year, in a show of bipartisan support, Congress passed a measure that would ban TikTok in the US as of Jan 19, 2025, if the company did not sell. President Joe Biden signed the bill into law, and a federal court upheld the legislation earlier this month. Let's go back to January 2024 when TikTok’s CEO Chew Shou Zi testified before American lawmakers over the harmful effects of social media on children.
