In this video I share my love of Brazilian music and quitar, by showing how to play a cool, groovy tune from the Putumayo Brazilian Groove album. The song is called "Maria Moita", and the artist behind this modern version of this song originally from the 60s, is Rosalia de Souza. Chords notation to the song at 1:32.
I will also talk a little bit about the lyrics (09:02) that to my understanding tell the story of a child born to black slave mother and a white boss in the 18th or 19th century in Brazil.
One curiousity that I dont talk about in the video that it sounds quite a lot like the famous "Smoke on the Water" riff by Deep Purple. Maria Moite was composed first however, so any possible inspiration went from the Brazilan song to Richie Blackmore and the guys, not the other way around.
Please comment what you think of the video, and if you like it, subscribe to my channel. Thanks Obrigado!
