It had been ages since I last visited Okinawa, and this trip reminded me how deeply I love the island.

This video documents Day 1 of my Okinawa trip, traveling from Naha to Nanjo City to visit Seifa-Utaki, one of the most important sacred sites of the Ryukyu Kingdom, and Chinen Cape, where open sea, strong wind, and light quietly shape the landscape.

While visiting Seifa-Utaki, there were other visitors, making it impossible to capture only natural sounds. However, because this is a sacred place, the atmosphere was never overwhelmingly noisy. This allowed moments where human presence and nature gently merged into a single soundscape, which I recorded as part of my sound practice.

I traveled throughout this journey using public transportation only, choosing a slower and more mindful way to experience each place.
