This is the full version with detailed analysis, logic and explanations.
Those three skills are:
1. Loading old inside ski before going into the turn
2. Making the ski flat (rolling edges, crossover, anticipation, projection, etc.)
3. Up and Down Unweighting
The goals for each element, the timing, the mechanics, the reasons and how to facilitate it (what to do) are addressed at depth.
Alternatively there is also a short summary clip that discusses four turns with frozen frames analysis only, step by step:
• Classical Parallel Ski Turn, 3 key element...
Classical Parallel Turn is the soul of skiing.
Invented way before the shaped ski, and before carving somehow it was moved into the shadows.
Yet it is the gateway to powder skiing, free ride, moguls, backcountry, broken powder, crud.
In my humble opinion it represents not only the technical foundation of skiing, but presents the spirit and elegance, smooth flowing movement, total control, roosters behind the tails. I am an old amateur, I am skiing for 50+ years and I just like to share some ideas.
