On the morning of April 4th, 2023, Metro-North Railroad tested recently leased Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT)/CTrail EMD GP40-3H 6699 with a 3 car "mini bomb" consist on the Danbury Branch. The test train ran up the branch from the railroad's Stamford Yard testing PTC mods that were made to the locomotive before final release into revenue branch line shuttle service. Metro-North is leasing locomotives from CTDOT to assist with fleet size while the remainder of their Brookville BL20GHs are sent out for rebuild.
This video shows the test train passing by Commerce Street in South Norwalk.
