ANY bass can play chords, so in this video we’ll pull out the 6-string bass, talk about why it’s a great choice for playing bass chords, look at a bunch of different chord shapes, and even learn how to build your own custom chords so that you’ll never run out of options!

The high C-string has a high range and a different tone giving you access to a wider range of abilities
Using a mute
Experiment with tone
Use the bridge pickup
Try boosting your mids
Chord are built from scale degrees of the major scale
The root defines the name of the chord
Major Chord = 1 - 3 - 5
The 5th can be omitted from most notes - we say it’s “Implied”
Voicing: a particular arrangement of notes
Dominant 7 Chord = 1 - 3 - 5 - b7
The C7 Chord WANTS to Resolve to an F Major
Minor Chord = 1 - b3 - 5
