Located at the northern tip of Sumatra in Aceh Province, Banda Aceh is a place shaped by faith, history, and incredible resilience. In this travel vlog, I explore daily life in Banda Aceh, its people, its food, and how the city has rebuilt itself since the devastating 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

From the moment I arrived in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, I could feel that this city was different. Surrounded by mountains on one side and the sea on the other, Banda Aceh is calm, welcoming, and deeply rooted in Islamic culture. I start this Indonesia travel vlog at Ulili Park, a popular local hangout where families, young people, and tourists come together. Walking through the park gave me my first real look at everyday life in Aceh and the strong community spirit that defines the city.

One of the most meaningful moments in this Banda Aceh vlog is meeting Hadiyan, a local guesthouse owner and survivor of the 2004 tsunami. He was just a child when the tsunami hit, and hearing his personal story was incredibly powerful. We talk about life before the tsunami, the day everything changed, and how Banda Aceh slowly rebuilt itself. Even as someone who doesn’t usually enjoy coffee, I was genuinely surprised by the flavour. I also explore local food courts and street food spots, including making Indomie noodles with a unique Bangladeshi spice mix — cheap, local, and full of flavour.

Throughout this Banda Aceh travel vlog, I experience the legendary hospitality of Acehnese people. Whether in small restaurants, local cafes, or family-run businesses, I was welcomed with warmth and curiosity. I also visit a family-friendly restaurant that has a mosque on-site, showing how faith and daily life blend naturally in Aceh.

As I continue exploring Banda Aceh, I try more local dishes — from fried bananas topped with chocolate to traditional Acehnese noodles. Food here isn’t just about taste, it’s about community, sharing, and culture. Every meal became part of the story of this city.
